Why Choose Our Domestic Skip Hire Services?
We’re finding that people are trying to cut costs by hiring smaller skips, or simply just one skip that is, more often than not, inappropriate for the task at hand. We find that it nearly always means a more expensive experience for you. So, whether you are about to undertake your annual spring cleaning, start a gardening project, or you’re about to begin a major extension to your property, J Dickinson & Sons have the right skip for you, at affordable prices.
Of course, domestic skip hire is not something you would tend to consider until you’ll need to dispose of your general waste, scrap metals, or garden waste such as soil, fencing, etc. Not only does it save you the horrible job of filling your car up with items you wish to discard. It also means you can throw more out and not have to stagger your trips to the tip.
Our service is more than just to deliver you a skip, we collect at times that suit you, and we aim to recycle items you have thrown out. This helps us with our objective of “zero to landfill” and also means that you are also doing your bit for the environment.

How much is a domestic skip hire service?
Generally, the larger domestic projects you undertake, the bigger the skip you’ll need, and the more you’ll have to pay. You’ll also pay more depending on how long you want to hire the skip. At J Dickinson & Sons, we can save you money by covering the cost of delivery for your skip.
Bear in mind, though, if you don’t have enough room on your premises for a skip and need to park it on the road, you will require a permit from your local council. We can arrange this for you when you book your skip.
Permit prices vary depending on your local council. If you’re unsure if you need skip permits and want to find out how much it’ll cost, please don’t hesitate in asking us when you call to book your skip. If you’re looking for other services such as reliable, commercial skip hire, J Dickinson & Sons can provide skips for local businesses.

What size skip do I need?
This depends on the job you need a skip for in the first place.
For example, if you need to hire a skip for a small household job, a 2 cubic yard skip will be ample.
But for a large, heavy-duty building project, an 8 cubic yard bucket skip would be more fit for purpose. In short, it all depends on the job.
Lastly, it’s important to make sure you have enough waste to put in your skip before you hire it. Otherwise, you risk paying over the odds for a skip you don’t really need.
How long will it take to deliver my skip?
Here at J Dickinson & Sons, we aim to arrange a next-day delivery service upon request. Simply speak to a member of our team to confirm a delivery date and time (AM or PM) that best suits you.
How long can I hire a domestic skip for?
We offer a 14 day hire maximum on all our domestic skips – be sure to contact J Dickinson & Sons for any queries regarding this.
Is hiring a skip good for the environment?
Absolutely. And as part of our ambition to achieve zero landfill, we aim to recycle 100% of the waste we sort. So, by hiring a skip from us you’re doing your bit to help the environment too.
